As President Obama celebrates re-election, we look at some of the work performed by the National Guard to keep polling stations open on election day in areas of the North East where power remains difficult to obtain…From the photographer:
Cpl. Anthony Costello, a Rotterdam, N.Y., resident and a member of the 206th Military Police Company out of Latham, N.Y., preps a generator to be used at polling sites in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Nov. 5.
Although largely from anecdotal evidence from families of reporters in our office, power still remains an issue that is slowly tearing at the resilience of residents in New York. With another storm bearing down on the area, I’m not sure how much more the region can take.
