With Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta soon to depart the Department of Defense, this may be his last visit in his current capacity to Afghanistan.  More photo’s of his unannounced trip after the break:

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta (R) smiles as he is greeted by U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan James B. Cunningham, (C), and Marine Gen. John R. Allen, (L), commander of International Security Assistance Force upon his arrival at Kabul International Airport on December 12, 2012 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Curious about the baseball cap sitting in Panetta’s hand?  Notice that it’s not the same one he wore later with the troops.  I can’t make it out but it’s obvious some kind of navy hat given the warship.  Here’s Panetta later, with what looks like the 3rd infantry division patch cap to me (kudos to any reader who can identify the two).  The jacket, however, remains 101st Airborne.
