Photo of the Day: June 5, 2013 – Chinese Navy Ballcaps Are Pretty Cool

U.S. Navy photo by MC1 N. Ross Taylor

Adm. Cecil Haney, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, has been in China in recent days conferring with his counterparts from the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). While in Zhanjiang on May 31, Haney got a tour of the Chinese destroyer LANZHOU and, as is the custom in many navies, was presented with a ball cap from the ship. Pretty spiffy-looking cap, a great souvenir of the PLAN visit. We’re jealous…

It’s interesting to note that as the U.S. Navy has tightened the wearing of command ball caps — which are not official issue — the practice remains widespread, and almost every navy wears versions of the classic American baseball cap.
