UPDATE: Word from a source that the drone was a DJI Phantom, a four rotor aircraft that’s about a foot across.
Ontario Tourism, busy trying to capture the Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve from the air, had a small drone go down this weekend. It’s a pretty view, and the drone appears to be getting great shoots, until something goes horribly wrong.
No word yet on the model of the drone, or why it went down, but we’ll update this post when that’s available. Two things to take away. 1) It’s a reminder of why there is still some controversy over the use of drones in US civilian airspace as the small aircraft seems to have plunged into the water like a skydiving sumo wrestler who never pulls his shoot. 2) The Go Pro camera seems to be a pretty tough little piece of equipment, surviving the drop and submersion to the bottom of the lake providing us with this little nugget of video.
