Today’s photo shows General David Petraeus in happier times. This photo was snapped May 22, 2008, at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing ahead of his appointment as commander of the United States Central Command. You can see protesters waving signs behind him, and get a good look at his large cursive hand-writing.
Petraeus, of course, went on to become the head of the CIA before resigning last Friday after revelations about an ongoing affair with his biographer. The scandal has since engulfed Marine General John Allen, delaying his confirmation to be U.S. European Command (EUCOM) chief by at least four months.
